Overview

ProSphere is currently seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer with enterprise-level experience in supporting customer IT operations while maintaining and working within a 24x7x365 datacenter environment.   

 

The candidate will be tasked with deploying new technologies within the organization, specifically planning and acting on the migration of on premise services to the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud. The candidate should also possess knowledge with VDI implementations, primarily Citrix, to support, and maintain the VDI environment. In addition, the candidate should have experience and understanding of system backup solutions (i.e. CommVault.

This role also requires the ability to create comprehensive documentation and diagrams, to support managing technologies that have been deployed to the organization. A candidate that has a knack for learning new technologies and keeping up with new advancements, as well as possessing time management skills to balance multiple project assignments is highly desired. Having the ability to understand concepts such as IT Service Management and Change Management are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the current infrastructure environment within the federal customers perimeter, to ensure uptime and reliability (Operations & Maintenance) 
  • Deploy, provision, and document new technologies implemented within the customer datacenter environment 
  • Participate with the Information Security division to ensure end systems meet compliance prior to deployment 
  • Provide reporting metrics to Sr. Operations Manager and Federal team lead for infrastructure run within the environment 
  • Architect and migrate on premise services to Microsoft Azure Government Cloud, with input from the federal engineering team.  
  • Work collaboratively with other segments of the federal customer IT division to ensure end-customer success 
  • Complete thorough technical documentation to be used for operational support for end-technologies 
  • Remediate infrastructure systems by deploying software patches and firmware hardware, resolving new vulnerabilities as they are discovered
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide after hours support to the infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree required -- Computer Science, MIS, Math or Engineering degree commensurate with experience 
  • 3+ years of experience with virtualization, specifically VMWare and Hyper-V 
  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud Infrastructure architecture and management within Microsoft Azure 
  • 3+ years of experience with Active Directory
  • 1+ years of experience with deploying and managing Citrix VDI, specifically version 7.x. 
  • Fluent understanding of the entire Microsoft Server ecosystem of applications- primarily Microsoft Windows Server technologies (including Hyper-V) 
  • Experience with deploying, managing, and maintaining Nutanix hyper-converged technology. 
  • Experience with managing storage area network arrays, such as EMC VNX 
  • Experience with managing network monitoring solutions, primarily Solarwinds Orion. 
  • Ability to create detailed systems documentation, as well as network/system topology diagrams with Visio 
  • Communications skills with Lines of Business / C-level staff, as well as other technical and non- technical staff is a must 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction providing technical and non-technical support to multiple users 
  • Participation to the on-call rotation is required 
  • Ability to work overtime required on occasion 
  • Government Contractor experience is a plus

  • Typical office environment. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-20 lbs.
