  • Overview

    ProSphere is seeking a Technical Writer to leverage his/her experience in editing narrative and graphic products to identify and correct grammatical formatting and logic errors and to identify logical inconsistencies that will require author attention. The successful candidate will prepare, format, and edit deliverables relating to a government contract involving the development and maintenance of software applications.  This is a full- time position located in Washington, DC. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities

    • Use word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools in preparing, formatting, and editing deliverables
    • Meet with authors and other team representatives to review documents, compile inputs/corrections, resolve incompatible comments, and provide final publishable documentation
    • Explain in simple language scientific and technical ideas that are difficult for the average reader to understand

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS in English, Communications, Journalism, Business or related field
    • 4 years of additional Experience may be substituted for a degree
    • 4 years of experience conceptualizing, formatting, structuring, writing, editing and finalizing technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures and results;
    • 4 years of experience with document editing tools such as MS Office software, screen capture software, graphics packages, etc.
    • 4 years of experience with industry documentation standards
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical user
    • Prior experience in Dept. of VA (or) any US Government Agency
    • Ability to mentor less experienced team members
    • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication as well as presentation skills
    • Ability to work overtime required on occasion
    • Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods of time
