    ProSphere is seeking a Proposal Writer to support the Business Development team. The Proposal Writer develops and prepares proposals written in response to government-issued RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and/or RFIs (Requests for Information). The Proposal Writer will work closely with several departments, including business development, contracts, and pricing. The successful candidate will develop original proposal content and revise existing boilerplate material to meet the requirements of an RFP or RFI.  He/She must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multi-task a variety of demanding assignments without a degradation of work quality. This is a full-time position located in Alexandria, VA.  Veterans are encouraged to apply.  


    • Compile technical information and edit it into clear, concise documents that meet technical requirements along with set standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
    • Interview subject-matter experts (SMEs) and use information to tailor proposals for RFP and RFI responses, developing compliant and compelling proposal narrative for technical approaches
    • Review written materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding
    • Edit documents for formatting, clarity, grammar, and spelling
    • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material
    • Create customizable boilerplate material (e.g., Executive Summary, Quality Plan, Staffing Plan, Relevant Technical Experience) to make proposal process as seamless as possible
    • Read and analyze RFPs and develop proposal content for non-technical portions of the proposal response
    • Maintain ownership of one or more sections/volumes of a proposal and drive to complete; may serve as Volume Owner or Book Boss
    • Adhere to RFP and style guidelines and meet all proposal deadlines; ensure compliance with all RFP requirements
    • Support proposal operations by participating in proposal kick-offs and proposal reviews and work closely with the Proposal Manager, Editor, SMEs, Graphic Artist and Desktop Publisher to ensure the development of high-quality responses in a timely manner


    • BA/BS in English, Communications, Journalism, Business or related field
    • A minimum of 5 years supporting proposals to the Federal Government
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work overtime required on occasion
    • Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods of time

    • Flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules and priorities
    • Must be a team player and possess the ability to work in a high-stress, deadline-driven environment
    • APMP certification or other Shipley-based training
